Thank you Mrs. DiBiase!

Students have been learning about computer aided design with web-based design programs Tinkercad and 3dtin.

These programs will help us when designing seed starter trays and pots for our plants.

Ultimately, using the 3D printers at Lawn to bring the students' prototypes to life.

Mrs. Dibiase has been working with the class about the engineering process. Thank you! Here - students are looking at creating a planter for swiss chard.

Wow! Halloween

Impressive to hold in your hand - what started as a seed. All the third grade classrooms are getting in the swing of the visits to the greenhouse. The tables that Mrs. Mitchell created are really perfect for watering and investigating our seeds. Also, taking a closer look at what something didn't grow.

Growing!

It's Friday, and a two day Nor'Easter just blew past Jamestown. The greenhouse, with overcast conditions and rain - only maxed out (temperature wise) at 60. When I arrive at school - the greenhouse reads 40 degrees (7:15 am)

The three classrooms from grade 3, Mrs. Caswell, Mr. Juhnowski / Mr. Juhnowski and my own classroom really enjoyed working outside and in the greenhouse.

I probably needed more actual hands-on components - too much talking about sterile soil, germination really didn't excite.

The actual planting - really showed a completely different side to the students. It was incredible.

And - today - we have growth!

Interiors

Took 3-1 out for check out the greenhouse space. Measured the length and width of the interior while we were there.

The student plans for the interior layout were very creative.

I have to scan some of the student work - but I was impressed with the decisions that were being made!

While I was outside - I realized that I probably need to cover the bottom of the greenhouse with a weed blocking fabric. Oops.
